When someone is afflicted by mental suffering, having money or status or fame is often no help whatsoever. The Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco: may be a wonderful sight to behold, but despite the beauty of the place many people go there and commit suicide. There is also a place that I visited in Sydney, a cliff along the shoreline which is breathtaking, but I heard that many people take their lives there as well. Mental suffering is extremely serious and only the Dharma is able to resolve it. Whatever other external possessions we might have cannot address this type of suffering.
